(Director) I have worked in childcare since myself and Angela opened the doors to Wizkidz on 1st July 2001. To open a children’s nursery had been a lifelong dream of Angela’s and we are both great believers that dreams will only come true if you work hard and make them happen. Within the nursery we like to think of our staff as our family. One of our personal values is to treat people the way we like to be treated. Outside the nursery myself and Angela are full time foster carers as well as being grandparents to our 2 grandchildren. We spend our weekends at our caravan with all the children and I enjoy playing golf. Angela and I both enjoy our holidays abroad and have visited many countries over the years. One of our favourite places was Santorini where we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in 2018. Coming into the nursery and seeing all the children’s faces and hearing the laughter whilst they play and learn gives us great delight. We feel very privileged to be part of the children who attend the nursery’s life journey. |

(Manager) I have worked at Wizkidz since 2007. I started my journey as a student before securing myself a full time position within the team and I have worked in all the playrooms over the years. I currently hold my SVQ level 3 in CCLD (Child Care Learning and Development) I qualified in 2010. This autumn I will be returning to college to start my PDA level 8 in Childhood Practice. I enjoy building positive relationships with the children and their families, seeing the children grow, develop and achieve their best really makes the job a joy. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and my friends. I have a Miniature Dachshund called Barney so I like to take him on walks in my spare time. |

(Support Worker) I have been in childcare for three years. What I like about childcare is that each day is different, always full of fun and making new memories ! What I like most is watching all the children grow and develop, All the children have their own personalities and are all different which is so nice to see and we are always laughing together. I love that we get to be a big part of their life and help shape them into the people they'll grow up to be. There are many things I would like to achieve in my life, one of which is to go back to college and do my HNC in childcare so that i can graduate and have my family and friends there to celebrate. I would also love to travel and work with children all over the world. My biggest achievements within my career so far is passing my SVQ2 as i didnt think I would be able to but with a little faith and guidance I did and am very proud of myself. I love spending time with my family having lots of adventures and laughs, i love to visit my grandad and have cups of tea and biscuits. I enjoy going out with my friends for cocktails and a dance. My hobbies include walking. |

(Practitioner) I’m a qualified Practitioner. I have worked at Wizkidz Nursery for the past 18 years predominantly with the under 3’s. Currently I work with the under 2’s in the small world room and I enjoy every aspect of my role especially watching the children progress from babies into confident individuals with their own emerging personalities. I form good attachments not only with the babies but also their families as they settle into the nursery environment. I live with my husband and enjoy spending lot’s of time with our children who are married and have families of their own. Once my youngest child started high school I decided to start a new career and began working at Wizkidz Nursery in April 2002. My biggest achievement was returning to college on day release from Wizkidz to gain my qualifications to become a practitioner. When I’m not at work or looking after my grandchildren I enjoy reading, and relaxing in my garden and days out with my family. My husband and I also enjoy travelling to new countries and relaxing in the sunshine. kirsty
(Practitioner) I’ve worked in childcare for 19 years! I qualified at Borders College in Edinburgh at svq level 3. I have worked both in nurseries and as a private nanny. I’ve always enjoyed my job and don’t see myself doing anything different. In my personal life I am mum to my 13 year old son, I have a large and close family that I spend most of my free time with. I enjoy reading, socialising with friends and family and a good box set! Abi

(Practitioner) I have worked in childcare for two years and I am fully qualified with an HNC in Childhood Practice. What I like about working in childcare is that there is no day that is the same because children are so unpredictable and each child has a different character and I find it is so refreshing getting to know every individual child. I also love helping the children learn new skills and to see them develop with time, it makes me feel proud knowing that I have played a good part in their childhood and preparing them for school. My biggest achievement to date is getting a full time job in childcare as it was my dream career path all the way through school and with hard work and dedication I have manged to achieve that dream. An aspiration of mine is that I would like to continue to learn new skills which will benefit my practice and to further my training. Outside of work I enjoy reading, listening to music, swimming, gorge walking and exploring new places, socializing with friends and spending time with family. Through family I have had a lot of experience in dealing with children who have learning difficulties as my little brother has autism and I had to learn how to communicate with him through the use of photo cards as he was unable to speak until the age of eight and this has allowed me to have a better understanding of children with autism. I am really enjoying my time at Wizkidz and look forward to many happy years working here. Dawn
